Sleep - now and in the future

Wednesday and Thursday night brought to little treasures that I haven’t seen in MONTHS - actual full night’s sleep. Ahh. I realize that’s a luxury which will be rare for the next many months, but still, it felt good to have that injected in the middle of the week for a couple nights.
Speaking of [...]

I’m in the Top 10!

Kiplinger released their list of top 10 places to live in the USA, and Houston, TX is at #1 and Fayetteville, AR is at #7… the two places I’ve lived over the past 17 years or so. Also, one of my top choices for places to move to is also on the list: Colorado [...]

Google Earth

Here are some pictures of our place from Space. Google Earth is cool! It’s worth a download.

Week 28, day 6

OK, I went in for the first appointment post-stay-at-home-rest. Good news: no more protein in the urine, so apparently the antibiotics prescribed last week did the trick. Not-so-great news: BP reading at the doctor’s was 140/100. It’s frustrating seeing the differences between readings at home (which are consistently in the 120s and 130s over 70s [...]

Forever

Earlier this year we spent an interesting night at the Foodarama after closing time. We were extras in a music video for the band “Southern Backtones.” It was a professional shoot with lots of lighting, make-up, and even dancing girls. Our job as extras was to just walk around in the [...]

RIP, Ron Stone

A legend in Houston broadcasting passed away today, from cancer. RIP.

Little Lambsy Divey

While walking around in Babies R Us yesterday and thinking about the name “Ivy”, a childhood song came to mind. I started singing “Mairzy Dotes” all the way through to to where “Little Lambs eat Ivy…” My audience of one (that’d be Holly) had never actually heard that song before. [...]

Oh yeah, on the “no news” earlier

The urine analysis did come in, and it was fine, so no excess protein in my urine. What the specialist told me is that while the BP issues aren’t preeclampsia (”yet”), he said “for your reading pleasure, what we’re calling this is ‘gestational hypertension.’” So, officially all the lab work that’s come back has been [...]

Back home

Yesterday around 2:30pm, I was released. They started giving me methyldopa for the BP, and the first 12 hours (all in the hospital) didn’t really make any difference. In fact, on a couple readings it went UP into the 180s, and I think someone told me my midnight reading spiked to over 200. That particular [...]

Good news, news and no news yet

Well, my OBGYN came in around 6pm, and let me know that the 3-hour glucose test came back fine, so I don’t have gestational diabetes or diabetes. That’s the good news!
The no news is that the urine analysis isn’t done yet (machine still down, I suppose) and since the MFM specialist I’m supposed to meet [...]
