Booked!

Got confirmation today and the go-ahead to make reservations, which I did. I’ll be stuck in the middle seat for one leg each way to Frankfurt (unless I can move to an unoccupied “Elite status” seat when I check in at the airports), but there are worse lots in life. Gonna be staying at the [...]

Germany for a week

Welll…. even though it’s not 100% right now, it’s close enough that I don’t feel like I’ll jinx anything by posting. Looks like I’ll be in Germany for a week of work, in mid-July. I got contacted by the Portland office, because I’m one of the few seniors in the firm who has German listed [...]

Sunday Sampler of Los Angeles

It is Sunday morning, and Holly and I have most of the day to kill. We will be flying back to Houston later this day, but for now we round up George, Loanne, and Jane and ask the perennial question, “So what would you like to do today?”

While trying to figure out the answer [...]

Sunday @ the Hollywood Walk of Fame

Stop #2 of our Sunday tour was to see the freak show on Hollywood Blvd. The Walk of Fame is surprisingly trashy and unattractive, but millions of tourists (including us) still come to visit the famous sidewalk. There are numerous actors in costumes as well as celebrity impersonators along the street. [...]

Sabado: El Dia de la Boda (Saturday: the day of the wedding)

Saturday was the day of the wedding which took place at an Episcopal Church in downtown Pasadena, California. The weather was fabulous and the wedding was brisk and beautiful. The priest said that in 30+ years of performing wedding ceremonies, April & Michael’s was the first that mentioned marshmallows.
April treated her bridesmaids to [...]

Friday, I Saw the Sign and it Opened Up My Mind.

Ivy’s irresistable charm caused the relatives to line up for the opportunity to babysit for the afternoon. So Holly and I enjoyed our free-day by visiting Griffith Park Observatory and an improptu hike up a hill near the Hollywood sign. It took 1:15 going up and :45 coming down. A little rougher than the [...]

Ivy in El Paso

It is Thursday, June 18th, 2009 and Holly, myself, and Ivy are headed west to California for April Sommer’s wedding. But our flight on Southwest Airlines has us changing planes in El Paso, Texas. So we have some time to kill in the airport and let Miss Ivy do some exploring.

Blorf

I usually feed Ivy in the mornings, and today was no exception. I decided to debut my birthday outfit (NOT NUDITY, LOL) to Joey, who was out walking the dogs while I fed Ivy, to show off the smaller sizes and cute clothes.
So I make a bottle and notice that he got the cheaper soy [...]

Up and at ‘em

It happened overnight, literally. Joey and I were up talking in bed Saturday morning and heard Ivy’s usual rustle, jabber and clapping from the other room. I looked over and she was STANDING UP in her pack-n-play. This happened unassisted. Now, she’s been standing up for awhile, but I had never seen her get up [...]
